Medical Oncologist, specializing in Uroogic Cancers
Dr. Nicholas J. Vogelzang, MD, was an internationally recognized medical oncologist specializing in genitourinary cancers and mesothelioma. He most recently practiced at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada and served as Associate Chair of the US Oncology Genitourinary Research Committee. Dr. Vogelzang earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in medical oncology at the University of Minnesota. He was board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and was widely acknowledged for his leadership in clinical research.
Dr. Vogelzang dedicated his career to advancing therapy for prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers, as well as thoracic malignancies such as mesothelioma. He was an investigator in numerous pivotal trials that led to therapeutic approvals and new standards of care, including immunotherapy and targeted agents. He authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications and was an influential voice in developing treatment guidelines that reshaped clinical practice internationally.
In addition to his research leadership, Dr. Vogelzang was a committed educator and mentor. Over his decades-long career, he trained many fellows and junior faculty, helping to develop the next generation of oncology leaders. He served on national and international committees and advisory boards that guided oncology research and policy. Through his enduring contributions to clinical care, research, and mentorship, Dr. Nicholas Vogelzang left a lasting legacy in the field of oncology and in the lives of patients and colleagues worldwide.
