Dr. Srinivasan Vijayakumar, MD, is a distinguished radiation oncologist specializing in breast, prostate, and lung cancers, as well as innovative radiation therapy techniques. He serves as Professor of Radiation Oncology and the former Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), where he also previously held the role of Cancer Institute Director. Dr. Vijayakumar earned his medical degree from Madras Medical College in India and completed residency training in radiation oncology at the University of Wisconsin. He is board-certified in Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Vijayakumar has been a leader in the development and clinical application of advanced technologies such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). He has participated in national clinical trials and published extensively on improving radiation delivery to maximize tumor control while reducing toxicity.
