Dr. Jennifer Mueller

Dr. Jennifer Mueller, MD, FACOG, is a gynecologic oncologist specializing in the surgical care of women with uterine, ovarian, cervical, and vulvar cancers. She practices as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care for patients with gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Mueller's path to medicine was shaped by an undergraduate degree in women's studies, which deepened her commitment to empowering women to access healthcare and reinforced her belief in the vital role women play in their families and communities. Her decision to pursue oncology was also profoundly influenced by the loss of her grandmother to cancer, an experience that continues to guide her approach to treating the whole person and honoring the trust and hope patients place in their physicians during a health crisis.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Mueller has a particular focus on minimally invasive surgery for endometrial cancer, with specialized expertise in sentinel lymph node mapping techniques. This approach allows for the removal of fewer lymph nodes, reducing the risk of surgical complications such as lymphedema and infection. Her demonstration of this technique earned her a recognition award from the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. She also holds expertise in debulking surgery for ovarian cancer. Her research interests span rare ovarian cancers and inherited endometrial cancers, as well as molecular imaging techniques for detecting cancer in lymph nodes in women with endometrial and cervical cancer. At Memorial Sloan Kettering, she contributed to identifying the critical mutated gene in small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcemic type, and actively collaborates with international academic groups studying mucinous ovarian cancers and with U.S. centers investigating clear cell ovarian tumors.
