Dr. Mahmoud B. El-Tamer, MD, is a highly experienced breast surgical oncologist with more than 30 years of expertise caring for patients with breast cancer. He specializes in oncoplastic surgery, a technique that combines cancer removal with breast reconstruction to preserve and enhance physical appearance, and cares for more than 350 breast cancer patients annually. His research has been supported by the Avon Foundation for Women, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the American College of Surgeons, where he has served as principal or co-principal investigator on multiple funded studies. He has authored or co-authored more than 120 book chapters, manuscripts, and editorials, and has published two textbooks focused on improving cosmetic outcomes in breast cancer surgery.
A committed educator and leader in the field, Dr. El-Tamer organizes and contributes to national and international surgical workshops dedicated to teaching breast surgeons how to achieve optimal cosmetic results.
