Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist
Dr. Tanya M. Trippett, MD, is a pediatric oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center specializing in the care of children with leukemia and lymphoma, with a particular focus on cancers that have returned despite prior treatment. As a member of the MSK Kids team, she combines expert clinical care with an active program in clinical research, designing and evaluating investigational therapies including antibodies and targeted agents aimed at the molecular signaling pathways that drive cancer growth. Her scientific background in molecular pharmacology and translational research has shaped her career-long commitment to understanding drug resistance at the biological level, with laboratory findings translated directly into improved treatment strategies for children with diverse cancer types.
Dr. Trippett has held significant leadership roles at both the institutional and national levels. She served on the Children's Oncology Group as Chairperson of the Hodgkin's Biology Committee and Vice Chair of the Hodgkin's Disease Committee for 12 years. She is Co-Founder of the Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigator Consortium (POETIC), a multi-center collaboration established in February 2003 to expand access to promising new agents in clinical trials for children with recurrent cancers. She served as Director of the POETIC Coordinating Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering, the only POETIC center in New York City, from the program's inception through 2019. She also teaches and mentors fellows who have gone on to establish their own research programs.
Dr. Trippett has more recently turned her focus toward global disparities in pediatric cancer care, developing a new initiative under the Global Disparities Program at MSK. She is leading a team working to build a children's cancer center in Ghana and has formed a charitable humanitarian organization to support this effort. Her career reflects a sustained dedication to giving children and their families hope through research, access to novel therapies, and a commitment to equitable cancer care across the globe.
