Dr. Charles R. Farber, PhD, is a globally recognized computational biologist and leader in cancer genomics research. He serves as Director of the Center for Public Health Genomics at the University of Virginia and is Professor of Public Health Sciences and Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics. Dr. Farber earned his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from the University of Virginia and completed postdoctoral training in functional genomics. He is widely known for integrating computational biology and systems genetics to uncover novel insights in cancer biology and complex diseases.

Dr. Farber’s research focuses on leveraging large-scale genomic and multi-omics data to dissect the genetic basis of tumor progression and metastasis, particularly in breast and bone cancers. He has led NIH-funded research programs and authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, advancing systems-based approaches in translational oncology research.

In addition to his research leadership, Dr. Farber is a dedicated mentor and educator. He has trained numerous students and postdoctoral fellows in computational biology and continues to foster interdisciplinary collaborations in cancer research. Through his commitment to computational innovation, translational research, and mentorship, Dr. Charles R. Farber continues to drive advancements in precision oncology.
