Dr. Santosh Kesari

Dr. Santosh Kesari, MD, PhD, is a nationally recognized neuro-oncologist and physician-scientist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of primary brain tumors and central nervous system metastases. He serves as Chair of the Department of Translational Neurosciences and Neurotherapeutics at the Saint John’s Cancer Institute and Director of Neuro-Oncology at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Kesari earned his MD and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, completed his neurology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and pursued fellowship training in neuro-oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is board-certified in Neurology.

Dr. Kesari is widely known for his work in advancing novel therapies for glioblastoma and other high-grade gliomas, with a focus on precision medicine, immunotherapy, and mechanisms of therapeutic resistance. He leads numerous clinical trials and translational research initiatives aimed at bringing targeted and personalized treatment strategies to patients with aggressive brain tumors. A prolific academic, he has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications and serves in leadership roles on national research committees and editorial boards. His research bridges basic science and clinical application, driving innovation in the field of neuro-oncology.

In addition to his research and clinical roles, Dr. Kesari is a dedicated educator and mentor, training the next generation of neurologists, oncologists, and neuroscientists. He is actively involved in professional organizations focused on brain cancer research and collaborates with national and international partners to expand access to cutting-edge therapies.
