Dr. Stephanie V. Blank

Dr. Stephanie Blank directs gynecologic oncology across the Mount Sinai Health System and holds a professorship at the Icahn School of Medicine. Her clinical practice unites complex pelvic surgery with systemic therapy, enabling comprehensive care for tumours of the ovary, uterus, cervix and related sites. Each treatment plan begins with detailed imaging and germ-line assessment, allowing the team to match surgical scope, chemotherapy and targeted agents to the biology of a given cancer.

Research guides this precision. Dr. Blank’s group investigates circulating-tumour DNA, immune-checkpoint combinations and patient-reported recovery after minimally invasive hysterectomy. Recent publications analyse checkpoint inhibition in poor-prognosis ovarian disease, fertility-sparing surgery for cervical tumours under age forty and mTOR modulation of vaccine responses in solid cancers. These studies inform national guidelines and expand access to genotype-matched trials at Mount Sinai’s Chelsea campus.

Leadership extends beyond the laboratory. As the 2022 President of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Dr. Blank led initiatives on workforce wellbeing, equity and future-proofing the specialty. She has also served as associate director for women’s cancers at the Tisch Cancer Institute, where she integrates academic mentorship with community outreach to ensure that scientific advances translate to durable benefits for diverse patient populations.
