Dr. Gu's research has focused on developing new therapies for gastrointestinal cancers, with particular emphasis on targeted chemotherapy for cholangiocarcinoma and immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma. She has a strong interest in personalized medicine, including molecular profiling, to design treatment strategies tailored to the specific characteristics of an individual patient's cancer. Through her role at MSK Bergen, she also facilitates patient access to clinical trials both locally and at MSK's main campus in Manhattan, expanding treatment options for patients in the region.
Outside of her clinical and research work, Dr. Gu is deeply focused on building trust with her patients. Her goal after each visit is for patients to leave feeling confident that they are well supported by her and the entire team around them. When she is not working, she enjoys photography, sports, and music.
