Dr. Antonio Jimeno, MD, PhD, is an accomplished medical oncologist and translational researcher specializing in head and neck cancers. He is Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Co-Leader of the Developmental Therapeutics Program at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, where he also leads the Head and Neck Cancer Clinical Program. Dr. Jimeno earned his medical degree from the University of Valladolid in Spain and his PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, where he also completed his residency in medical oncology. He subsequently completed a clinical fellowship in drug development at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Jimeno’s research focuses on cancer stem cell biology, tumor immunology, and the development of novel targeted therapies. He has been instrumental in early-phase clinical trials of innovative agents for head and neck cancer, integrating biomarker-driven approaches to personalize treatment. His work within the NCI-funded Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) has advanced understanding of tumor resistance and immune evasion, with direct implications for patient care.
In addition to his research leadership, Dr. Jimeno is a committed clinician and educator, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
